Dr. Husain is a first generation Bangladeshi-American, born and raised in Houston, TX. After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, she returned to Houston to pursue her medical education at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed residency in Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine where she rotated through multiple hospitals within the Texas Medical Center. She then completed a fellowship in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Texas Heart Institute. Dr. Husain is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Echocardiography.
After several years practicing in Texas and Michigan, Dr. Husain now resides in Nashville, TN. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and is a full-time Staff Anesthesiologist at Ascension St. Thomas West, a premier cardiac hospital in Nashville that has been designated as a Center of Excellence for robotic cardiac bypass surgery, robotic mitral valve surgeries, and heart transplants. She also serves as the Chair for Ambulatory Anesthesia Services within her department.
Dr. Husain has been an anesthesiologist with Smile Bangladesh since 2017. It is a great privilege working alongside local medical teams in Bangladesh and providing care to underserved communities. To be able to give back to her parents' home in such a way remains the highlight of her year.
